CMP

Comprehensive metabolic panel (CMP) checks the metabolism of different substances in the body. Several nutritional deficiencies can disturb the pH level and adversely affect the metabolism too. Metabolic abnormalities may also be an outcome of a disease. CMP monitors and diagnoses different conditions or diseases such as diabetes, high blood pressure, liver disease, kidney diseases, and other health problems. Moreover, it analyses the reaction of certain medications which may have side-effects on the liver and kidney function. CMP is also one of the very detailed lab tests to offer a complete analysis of different systems in the body working in conjunction with each other. This test measures the level of different nutrients in the body such as carbon dioxide, calcium, blood urea nitrogen, albumin, protein, total bilirubin, sodium, potassium, glucose, creatinine, liver enzymes, and chloride.

Diabetes Screening

Many tests are useful in diagnosing diabetes. Generally, patients get a diabetes screen at the 45 years age. The A1C test diagnoses diabetes and its type. This test uses a blood sample to check the sugar level in the blood. The Glucose Tolerance Test measures the sugar level of the individual before and after they consume a liquid containing glucose. The blood sugar level is measured again 2 hours after the individual drinks that liquid. If the sugar level measures high again, the person has diabetes.
